- Year-to-date (YTD) registrations up 13.1 per cent to 306,677
- Light CVs up 7.7 per cent for the month and 14.2 per cent YTD
- Trucks up 9.9 per cent in October and 7.5 per cent YTD
- Buses and coaches down 12.1 per cent and up 6.7 per cent YTD
‘With nine months of growth in new commercial vehicle registrations so far this year, 2003 will be remembered as a robust year for business investment in new vehicles’ said Christopher Macgowan, SMMT chief executive. ‘October’s registrations again underscored the positive state of the UK’s new commercial vehicle market. Increased businesses confidence is shown through strong investment in new vehicles. This is a useful economic indicator as commercial vehicles are workhorses, bought to help businesses to meet market demand. We expect the growth trend to hold firm and deliver the best annual registration total since 1989.’
