Lord Coe to speak at SMMT Annual Dinner

23 August 2005 #SMMT News

Lord Coe OBE, the man who won two 1,500m Olympic gold medals and led London to 2012 Olympic bid glory, will be a guest speaker at SMMT’s Annual Dinner. He will join Ford car design chief Peter Horbury, at the event which is themed The challenge of design. The Annual Dinner will be held at the London Hilton, Park Lane, on 22 November 2005.

Roger Putnam, SMMT president and annual dinner host commented, ‘We are looking forward to hearing from Lord Coe, the architect of London’s Olympic bid victory. The news was particularly timely for our industry since we recently announced a return to the capital for the British International Motor Show, following a 30-year absence. Three motor shows will take place before 2012, and I am sure this will raise awareness and help focus the international spotlight on the venue and its excellent facilities.’

The next British International Motor Show will open to the public from 20-30 July 2006 at ExCeL London, in the Docklands. An Olympic venue, ExCeL London will host six events at the 2012 Games: judo, boxing, wrestling, taekwondo, weightlifting and table tennis, as well as wheelchair basketball in the Paralympics. It will also host the international media centre.
