Kia Motors to launch 100 new walking bus routes

06 October 2005 #SMMT News

This week (3-7 October) has been Walk to School Week. As part of this community safety initiative, Kia Motors, organiser of the UK’s largest ever Walking Bus campaign, has announced it is to support the launch of a further 100 walking bus routes. Kia hopes that this will take the number to 350 across the UK by May 2006.

Schools are paired with their local Kia dealer, which supplies them with fluorescent safety clothing for the children and their adult escorts, and a detailed guide on how to start the route.

The Walking Bus is led by the parents with children following behind in crocodile formation, and accompanied by other parents. The scheme promotes regular exercise for children, teaches important road safety skills, reduces traffic congestion, and benefits the environment.
