Organisers of this year’s British International Motor Show, imie, have secured a title sponsor for the 10-day show which runs from 20-30 July. The deal, worth £1 million, sees Lloyds TSB Insurance partnering the event and becoming the first non-media title sponsor in the show’s illustrious 103-year history.

Tim Etchells, imie managing director, said: “We are delighted to have Lloyds TSB Insurance on board as our show partner mainly because our business objectives are similarly focused. Our aim is to present a high-quality family day-out in London while attracting motor enthusiasts and non-petrol heads alike. Lloyds TSB Insurance will help us to deliver the most exciting motor show in a generation.

The British International Motor Show is the biggest consumer show in the UK, attracting around 500,000 visitors. After nearly 30 years the show is returning to its spiritual home in the capital with a radical new format, new interactive entertainment and new title sponsor.

“We are really excited about partnering the British International Motor Show,” explains Mark Hanson, head of marketing, at Lloyds TSB Insurance. “This is so much more than simply a sponsorship deal; we will feature alongside the show in all communication activities, from advertising and branding to direct marketing and data capturing. Lloyds TSB Insurance will also have a major presence at the show with our own stand where we will be looking to increase our profile in the motoring arena. We also hope this will help spring-board us into becoming a major player in the motor insurance market.”

Taking full advantage of ExCeL London’s dockside setting, the new-look show will blend the traditional indoor car exhibits with a full programme of outdoor displays and entertainment designed for the broadest possible appeal.

With the show open until 21.00 every evening, visitors will be able to dine and drink al fresco in the summer weather at the waterside cafés, relax and soak up the atmosphere of the live outdoor evening rock and pop concerts, and take in the exciting powerboat and jet-ski action on the water.
