A week on from the World Cup Final in Germany, Team SMMT will be taking on all-comers in the regional heats of the BEN Championships at Fairlop in North East London. Success there will take the team to the Championship Finals day in August where the top prize will be presented by Spurs and West Ham legend and World Cup winner Martin Peters.
With various vacancies arising in the national football squad, the motor industry’s finest will be showing some leadership with the aim of filling the void. Hopefully, stamping offences will be limited, as will the need of the match officials to cower away from any vigorous protests by the opposition.
Team SMMT, kindly sponsored by Copyprint of Oval, are pictured with BEN president – and SMMT chief executive – ChristopherMacgowan and manager Alison Handley. Ms Handley has requested a meeting with Steve McClaren following the Championships to pass on her wealth of knowledge to the new national football coach.
