SMMT annual dinner speaker line-up confirmed

SMMT has confirmed speakers for its annual dinner on 27 November at the Park Lane Hilton. Joining SMMT President Graham Smith at the rostrum will be outgoing SMMT Chief Executive Christopher Macgowan. Christopher is stepping down at the end of 2007 following seven years at the helm of the Society.

This year’s guest speaker is a true heavyweight of American politics. A veteran of US-Soviet Strategic Arms Reduction Talks (START) and CIA Director for Bill Clinton, R James Woolsey currently chairs the advisory board of the Clean Fuels Foundation. He argues that development of cleaner bio-fuel and electric vehicle infrastructure is key to reducing oil dependency – and enhancing national security.

President Graham Smith commented, ‘There is already strong demand for this event, not least because we are hosting one of the most high profile and influential players in American policy on cleaner fuels. But, as well as the draw of our international guest, we know that visitors will be queuing up to hear Christopher’s valedictory speech.’
