* Big bus registrations down 17.5% to 2,397 for the year, but now stable.
* Big coaches up 12.7% to 1,041 – an eight year high.
* Buses 3.5 to 5t gvw up 73% and 5.0 to 8.5 gvw up 21% on last year.
“The lighter end of the bus sector saw the most vigorous growth as the heaviest mini and midi buses continued a four year growth trend,” said Paul Everitt, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders new chief executive. “Big bus numbers stabilised after a dip while big coach figures hit an eight year high of 1,041. Overall we expect stability in 2008.”
