SMMT to host business support event for automotive manufacturing

06 January 2009 #SMMT News

In light of the economic downturn, SMMT is organising a seminar outlining the variety of financial support schemes aimed at helping manufacturers in the motor industry.

On Wednesday 28 January 2009 the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) will host an open forum on business support for motor industry manufacturing. At the event, representatives from all the relevant schemes will convene to provide key players in the motor industry with the latest information on how to access such facilities.

The support mechanisms include direct financial support, grants and loans, training schemes, and further investment opportunities. Organisations offering aid include the UK government, European Investment Bank, regional development agencies and skills development agencies.

Paul Everitt, SMMT chief executive, said, “In the current economic conditions, it is more important than ever for companies to access the various funding opportunities available at regional, national and international levels. As the motor industry trade association, it is important that SMMT guides its members through the myriad opportunities to help them utilise the support systems set up for the industry.”
