Van and truck registrations down over 40%

Registrations: down 44.8% in April, down 27.7% to 286,841 for the rolling year.

Trucks: down 41.0% in April, down 11.6% to 49,874 for the rolling year.

Vans: down 45.6% for the month and down 30.3% to 236,967 for the rolling year.
“UK commercial vehicle registrations continue to fall steeply reflecting slow sales over the last six months, but a few truck makers report an increase in enquiries. In many cases the price differential caused by the low value of the pound against the euro stifles potential sales,” said Paul Everitt, SMMT chief executive. “While we see the government’s policy bringing some relief, confidence remains subdued. We see little evidence to indicate a quick recovery and expect a record low for year-end van and truck registrations.
