SMMT webinar to focus on 2010 economic forecast

11 January 2010 #SMMT News

Throughout 2010, SMMT will hold free webinars aimed at providing the automotive industry with in-depth perspectives and opportunities to pose questions directly to the webinar presenters.

The next SMMT webinar, 10:30-11:00 on Friday 22 January, will focus on the production outlook and 2010 economic forecast. 2009 proved to be very challenging for the global automotive industry and while there are some signs of recovery, considerable uncertainty remains in the UK and in markets abroad. November 2009 saw the first increase in vehicle production since September 2008, up by almost 13%, but overall vehicle production for the year is down by over 37%. Key economic indicators point to a slow and disjointed recovery.

SMMT chief executive, Paul Everitt will share his thoughts on key challenges and opportunities for 2010 and Robert Baker, SMMT chief economist, will present the latest economic forecast for the year. Ian Henry, director, AutoAnalysis, will offer his insight into production volumes of the major OEMs and the potential impact this could have on suppliers.

The event will last for approximately 30 minutes, followed by a question and answer session. As the webinar is of value to all companies operating in the sector, SMMT encourages all automotive businesses to attend.
