Positive registration trends in key month of March
· Registrations: 38,900 in March; 225,388 for the rolling year, down 25.0%.
· Trucks: 4,209 in March; 32,471 for the rolling year, down 37.5%.
· Vans: 34,691 for the month; 192,917 for the rolling year, down 22.4%.
“March 2010 saw some welcome improvement in UK van registrations with the third successive month of growth. Truck registrations remain extremely low, reflecting last winter’s deeply depressed demand,” said Paul Everitt, chief executive at the SMMT. “The situation reflects a hesitant recovery though demand is still very low with continued uncertainty in key segments of the market. Manufacturers and dealers will look for more and better priced credit to help strengthen demand in the coming months.”
