Photography competition to expose the heroes of modern manufacturing

02 June 2011 #SMMT News

EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, is on the hunt to find the UK’s heroes of manufacturing, with its 2011 photography competition that aims to inspire a new public perception of the manufacturing sector.

The annual competition seeks to capture the ingenuity, creativity, technology and pride that drive the UK industry, and is open for submissions from professional and amateur photographers of all ages. The winning images will be modern, engaging, and challenge outdated perceptions of the UK’s manufacturing sector.

If you are part of the industry, your entry could be taken by keen amateur photographers in your own workforce, apprentices or even visiting students. EEF also wants to see the best professional images that you may have had taken by an expert photographer. The competition is free to enter and open to everyone until 31 October 2011.

SMMT has already unveiled a collection of striking photographs which provide a rare ‘behind the scenes’ glimpse of the UK motor industry. By teaming up with both professional and student photographers, a unique gallery of images was produced that depicts the full scope and scale of the sector, and portrays the advanced technologies and skills within it.
