  • Top speed of 188mph.
  • Eight-speed automatic transmission.

Bentley Motors has launched an all new 4 litre, twin-turbo V8 engine for the Continental GT and GTC. Capable of over 500 miles on a single tank and delivering a 40% improvement in fuel economy over the W12, the new engine is efficient and sporty, hitting 60mph in 4.6 seconds.

At Bentley’s Crewe HQ, it’s engineers worked to optimise power delivery and efficiency, leading to the development of a new ground breaking technology – variable displacement. This system deactivates cylinders when they are not needed – driving at a steady speed or decelerating – but under acceleration, the full V8 power is employed.

Bentley’s global sales for 2011 were up 37% to 7003 cars. In Europe, the business saw sales up by over a half to 1187 cars, led by a German market which increased by 88%. In the UK, the brand increased registrations by over 5% to 1031 units.
