SMMT showcases collection of automotive components from UK supply chain

03 May 2012 #SMMT News

Automotive components manufactured, designed and distributed across the UK supply base are the latest focus of SMMT’s ongoing showcase of the UK’s automotive sector at its Westminster exhibition space.

Over the next fortnight, SMMT will highlight the breadth and scale of companies operating in the UK’s supply chain sector, demonstrating the full capabilities of the £4.8 billion valued supply chain industry.

Representing just a fraction of more than 2,300 supply chain companies currently operating in the sector, the latest SMMT exhibit demonstrates the range of growth opportunities that are emerging following more than £4.5 billion of UK-based OEM investment in UK automotive, announced over the last 18 months.

Components ranging from ancillary drives to EV battery cooling devices will be on display during the next fortnight, from the following automotive companies: Cab Automotive, Ebm-Papst, Fuel Defend, GKN Driveline, Norma, Prelok, Remploy Automotive, Schaeffler and Southco Manufacturing.

Earlier in the year, SMMT spoke to senior UK automotive directors about the potential for growth across the supply chain industry. Watch the video below to hear what they had to say.
