Research funding opportunity for UK companies

02 August 2013 #SMMT News

The European programme, Horizon 2020, is set to fund €80bn of research between 2014-2020. To support the automotive industry’s engagement with the programme, SMMT, Transport KTN, Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership and Technology Strategy Board have come together to develop a set of activities to help UK companies maximise the benefits.

The first of these is a webinar that will be held on Wednesday 14 August, 12:00-13:00. The webinar will explain Horizon 2020, which is replacing the Framework Programme 7 (FP7), and how the funding could help businesses with research projects.

Webinar agenda

  • Neil Ridley, Director of the Transport KTN will give an overview of Horizon 2020 and what it could mean for UK businesses.
  • There will also be an opportunity to get to grips with the draft Transport Work Programme, a document that outlines which areas of research will be supported in 2014/15, courtesy of a presentation from Cliff Funnell, the UK’s National Contact Point for Surface Transport.
  • The presentations will be followed by a Q&A session to discuss the funding and work programme.

During the coming months SMMT will run a number of other webinars and activities to cover a range of topics to help businesses successfully engage with Horizon 2020. These will cover the benefits of being involved, how to find partners and how to write successful applications.
