McLaren Manufacturing Challenge

06 September 2013 #Uncategorised

The McLaren Manufacturing Challenge (MMC) is run in conjunction with a select number of  London and Woking-based schools. The aim of the challenge is to design and build a motor-less vehicle capable of carrying a boiled egg over a ten metre distance in the quickest time possible.

Students team-up in groups of five to design and build their vehicles. All teams within the same school will then compete against each other, with the winning team being invited to attend the MMC London heat at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills on Tuesday 15th October. The first round of ‘in-house’ heats are to be run, and judged, by individual schools.

The MMC London heat will see the winning teams from all participating London schools compete against each other by demonstrating the speed of their vehicles over a 10 metre track.

The top three schools from the London heat will then be invited to compete against a further group of Woking schools in the MMC Finals at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Surrey, on 8 November 2013.
