Students get behind the scenes with Vauxhall

31 October 2013 #SMMT News

Vauxhall has opened up its UK manufacturing facilities to young people as part of October’s See Inside Manufacturing initiative.

Now in its third year, See Inside Manufacturing has seen a number of UK-based automotive manufacturers open their doors to inspire the next generation of engineers.

Hundreds of young people visited Vauxhall’s assembly and warehouse operations in Luton, where it makes the Vivaro van, to gain an insight into the firm’s manufacturing, engineering and supply chain operations, as well as finding out about the plethora of career opportunities available to them.

Kelvin Hopkins, MP for Luton North, said, “See Inside Manufacturing is a brilliant initiative supported by Vauxhall and I was delighted to spend time recently touring the Luton plant with pupils from Lealands High School in my Luton North constituency.

“I am sure that seeing at first-hand how the excellent Vauxhall Vivaro van is made will have encouraged local young people to give serious thought to a future career in manufacturing.”
