For the past six years, Unipart Manufacturing has successfully sponsored students through the Nuffield Bursary Scheme, which encourages young people (post-16) to study maths-based subjects and their application in the working environment. Young people taking part in the programme are placed at either Unipart Eberspächer Exhaust Systems Limited or Kautex Unipart Limited for a six-week period during the summer. The students are trained on Creative Problem Solving, which equips them with the skills to work on real-life mathematical problems within the company.
In 2013, the students worked on two key projects to support business growth. These included a key strategy project of introducing hot running to a production line and a project which increased efficiency and productivity of a new business area. Both projects were completed successfully with real tangible benefits to the businesses
