Motor Codes Vacancy – Head of Marketing and Communications

Purpose of the Post:

To operate, monitor, develop and ensure quality delivery of operations and services within the Communications, Sales and Marketing and Account Management areas and contribute positively to the running and development of Motor Codes as part of the Leadership Team.

Qualifications/Skills/Attributes required:

Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to manage projects
  • Strong organisational, time management and administrative skills
  • A high standard of written and spoken English
  • Good level of computer literacy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Good knowledge of consumer related legislation
  • Good knowledge of motor vehicles and the motor industry

Competencies

  • Ability to manage staff through effective leadership
  • Ability to manage or influence staff who may not be your direct reports
  • Ability to manage own time and work within set timescales
  • Methodical approach to work and delivering on defined objectives
  • Confident and professional manner when dealing with people

Experience

  • Experience of managing people is desirable but not essential
  • A highly self motivated individual with experience of working in a fast paced environment and communicating at all levels as well as proven flexibility in managing tasks and projects
  • Experience of working within a Motor Manufacturer or Dealer would be desirable but not essential
  • Experience of working on own initiative, prioritising tasks and leading projects in a confident and well organised manner
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Experience of managing people is desirable but not essential

Main duties include:

Head of communications and engagement responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for Communications, Sales and Marketing and Account Management functions and all associated outsourced activities
  • Set and achieve challenging team objectives and targets
  • Support team in creating delivery plans and processes
  • Ensure team is operating efficiently, cooperatively and progressively
  • Establish relevant and consistent reporting lines and monitoring processes across the business
  • Support creation of cross team project groups
  • Deliver all relevant business plan objectives
  • Be a champion of the business vision to all internal and external audiences
  • Be an internal champion and influential supporter of the business and staff vision

Communications

  • To plan and implement proactive media relations campaigns, trade and consumer advertising and general communications activity across a variety of stakeholder audiences, to promote Motor Codes to consumers and the motor industry while delivering against annual business plans and objectives
  • To work with the Marketing Manager to develop, plan Motor Codes’ marketing activity, to be deployed nationally, drive consumer awareness of the Motor Codes brand
  • To work collaboratively with the SMMT to reflect the best interests of the UK motor industry through Motor Codes approved Codes of Practice

Specifically:

  • Develop and implement effective PR, communications and marketing strategies to promote Motor Codes to the consumer, trade and press, measurably demonstrating growing relevance and value.
  • Develop, promote and protect the image and reputation of Motor Codes as an established brand within the motor industry and consumer landscape.
  • To work with the Marketing Manager to manage all promotional activities, develop key messages and activity plans to deliver the appropriate profile for Motor Codes and oversee production of all public and trade facing marketing materials and advertising opportunities
  • To oversee the development of social media channels and direct/operate and advise on all Motor Codes social media activity.
  • Source and manage relationships with industry partners, extending the reach of the Motor Codes garage finder and online reviews community as well as exploiting endorsement and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Oversee and deliver an efficient Motor Codes press office and media service.
  • Ensure all written and visual material produced by Motor Codes is in line with the brand’s corporate identity.
  • Oversee, manage and develop the content and appearance of www.motorcodes.co.uk
  • Represent and promote Motor Codes at events, exhibitions and industry committees as appropriate.

Sales and Marketing and Account Management Team

  • To oversee Sales and Marketing and Account Managers to ensure delivery of business planned operational activity for the following activities:
  • New subscriber acquisition strategy and activities
  • Sales and network marketing plans and development
  • Subscriber retention and engagement activities

Leadership team responsibilities

  • Strategic development, business planning and delivery of business objectives
  • Develop standard mechanisms to review business operational/financial performance
  • Establish standard qualitative measures for current business activities and new projects
  • Establish standard mechanisms for monitoring and improving MC customer service
  • Develop review mechanisms to ensure outsourced services are delivered to contract and expectations
  • Create new initiatives, project plans and targets
  • Embed, successfully sustain and develop new initiatives
  • Monitor and support individual staff performance within the SMMT Group PDR framework
  • Attend, report and contribute to all board meetings
  • Identify and promote collaborative opportunities within SMMT Group

Salary and benefits package:
