Demand for new cars in Europe continued its upwards trajectory in the first six months of the year, as registrations rose 8.2% compared with 2014, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA). More than 7 million cars have been registered in the region so far this year, with demand boosted by growth in all the major markets.

June marked the 22nd consecutive month of growth for the European new car market, with the number of registrations up 14.6% to 1,364,009 – the biggest monthly rise since December 2009. Registrations grew across the region, with Spain leading the way with a 23.5% surge. This positivity was mirrored across Europe, as France (15%); Italy (14.4%); Germany (12.9%); and the UK (12.9%) all saw double-digit increases last month.
