Classification of content
As the web site holds a massive amount of content it is essential
that this is made accessible in the simplest and fastest of ways. To deliver
this a two tier classification (category system) is used in most areas
of the site. The top category (parent category) is always shown in "UPPERCASE"
e.g. "SAFETY & SECURITY" whilst second level sub categories
are shown in "lowercase" e.g. "Airbags". In most areas
by selecting the parent category all content (including sub categories)
is returned to the user, refinement can then be made by selecting a specific
sub category.
Services offered
News Alerts - Electronic Magazine allowing subscribed users the ability
to receive automatic alerts of new content being added to the web site
is available throughout. Two News Alert formats are possible, news update
and member information update available at user defined frequencies. Subscription
to the service can be found in News and each Committee area.
File download
Most files on the web site are available for download in Adobe Acrobat
PDF format, the latest free Adobe Reader software can be obtained from
www.adobe.com In some cases
where multiple files are available for download the content has been compressed
using standard Winzip technology, the latest free trial Winzip application
can be obtained from www.winzip.com
