SMMT’s Automotive Information Services (AIS) department provides statistics on the new and used vehicle market and vehicles on the road (Motorparc).
AIS creates monthly reports for new vehicle (car and LCV) registrations, quarterly reports on heavy commercial vehicle (HGV and bus and coach) registrations and used car sales, as well as annual Motorparc data.
The AIS department produces both standard and tailored reports for SMMT members and other customers for use in business planning and analysis. The information is also used by SMMT to support and inform on major issues which affect the motor industry and the wider economy.
As the industry, and the environment in which it operates, constantly change, so does the nature of information required. The AIS team works to maintain and improve existing data and introduce new services, such as the Vehicle Safety Recall Service. Read some examples of how our data is used by industry.
