   Introduction

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Limited (SMMT), established in 1902, is the premier trade association for the UK motor industry. Based in Forbes House, Halkin Street, London, the Society is easily accessible from both mainline and London underground stations. See map.

SMMT is a member-based organisation and consists of the following departments; Accounts, Automotive Information Services, Exhibitions, International, Information Technology, Legal Services, Personnel, Communications, Economics and Policy, Membership and Business Improvement and Technical. Each department offers various services to members, which you will find detailed on this site.

Job Title:
Digital Media Officer

Purpose of the post:
To develop and deliver the SMMT group’s new media activity with particular focus on website content and social media.
 
To identify opportunities for and deliver constantly changing content across three individual websites, designed to boost traffic to each site.
 
To promote the SMMT group of companies and UK automotive sector issues, events and activities through digital media channels.
 
 
Key responsibilities:

Help to develop a digital strategy for SMMT, Motor Codes and the Automotive Council.


Identify, produce and edit content for all websites ensuring messages and branding is consistent with the broader communications activity.

 

Ensure all relevant content is coordinated and effectively communicated through all digital channels (websites, blogs, social media etc).

 

Ensure all SMMT digital channels are regularly updated and refreshed.

 

Identify and activate opportunities to develop the SMMT group’s digital media activity to support the delivery of SMMT’s business objectives.

 

Manage the day-to-day development of SMMT’s websites, liaising with external web development agencies.

 

Monitor and evaluate all new media activity including regular reports on the use of all digital media.

 

Other duties as required.
 
Qualifications/Skills/Attributes Required:

 


Graduate Level

Proven track record of success in web editing and the use of digital technologies

Clear understanding of existing and evolving social media

Excellent written communications skills

Positive and enthusiastic approach to team working

Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure

Committed team player

Knowledge and understanding of key automotive sector issues

Multi-tasking is key to this role

Excellent IT Skills

Outstanding organisational skills

Project Co-ordinator Member Services

Purpose of the post:

 Promote, develop and engage members and wider industry in e-Business & Logistics activities.

Ensure member’s views and requirements are represented at a local and international level

Support implementation of Supply Chain development projects.

Support the delivery of SMMT’s industry stakeholder engagement programme including webinars, regional road shows and other related events.

Support development & delivery of member services products.

Provide administration for all related projects

 
Key responsibilities:

develop and support logistics and e-Business activities including committees and working groups ensuring members are kept informed of the latest developments.


work closely with other organisations such as Odette and ENX on relevant industry standardisation projects.


support development of Supply Chain related projects – in particular focussing on business development opportunities.


 develop, promote and deliver monthly webinars to engage with wider audience.


support delivery of events and roadshows to promote SMMT and the work we do.


attend meetings in the UK and overseas to represent SMMT and members as required


work with member services team to develop, deliver and promote new products and services


administer and process Odette publication orders


provide secretarial support for all relevant meetings, including preparation of agendas, minutes and reports and ensure that agreed actions are implemented

 

deal with all related enquiries in a professional manner

 

Support the senior project co-ordinator with internal projects

 

Other duties as required

 

Automotive Supplier Finder (ASF) Service

 

provide operational support during busy periods

 

 support the development and roll out of ASF

 

perform helpdesk duties when required

 

provide cover for ASF related issues in the absence of other team members

 

 

Support department head with other projects as needed.
 
Qualifications/Skills/Attributes Required:

honours degree ideally with some elements of business management (all fields of study would be considered) 


some experience of working on projects (especially with tight deadlines)

 

 knowledge of the current Information Communication Technology (ICT) environment would be an advantage

 

reliable and solid team player with a strong sense of shared objectives and common goals

 

effective communication and presentation skills - both oral and written

 

ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines – able to step up to the challenge when required

 

good interpersonal skills and highly motivated with the ability to work effectively without supervision

 

proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet

 

flexibility, willingness to learn, be involved and adapt

 

ability to multi-task and work effectively on different projects

 

self starter with a pro-active approach who possess a strong sense of initiative
