MINI helps mark major manufacturing milestone

BMW Group UK marked 100 years of car manufacturing in Oxford today, where Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin was joined by Harald Krueger, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, to open a centenary exhibition at the new Visitor Centre at MINI Plant Oxford. A classic Mini and a new MINI Hatch are also on display in SMMT’s Westminster exhibition space to mark the occasion.

2012 new car and van best sellers on show at SMMT

Following news that the 2012 UK new car market hit a four-year high of more than two million units, SMMT has welcomed two best selling Ford models into its Westminster showroom, celebrating the company’s latest annual sales success.

Honda’s UK manufacturing history on show at SMMT

Swindon is Honda’s flagship production facility in Europe and already manufactures the regular Civic and CR-V models. In April, 500 new associates began working at the plant, bringing the total number of employees to 3,500.

UK companies show off world-leading electric vehicle technologies

The latest exhibit on show at SMMT demonstrates the UK’s world-leading electric vehicle (EV) technologies. Three UK companies – Axeon, Sevcon and YASA Motors – displayed their EV drivetrain products at a media event in Westminster today.

Three new cars available in the UK from September are the latest exhibits to be showcased in SMMT’s exhibition space. Ford’s mini MPV, the B-MAX is joined by Volvo’s premium five-door hatchback, the V40 and Maserati’s latest coupe, the GranTurismo Sport.

Nissan’s record-breaking presence in the UK celebrated at SMMT

The latest exhibit on show at SMMT’s Westminster exhibition space is a celebration of Nissan’s manufacturing presence in the UK. The Sunderland Plant’s 25th anniversary was marked last year with a string of new UK car industry records. 480,485 vehicles rolled off the production line in 2011, the most ever produced by a car plant in the UK, while the number of jobs there also reached an all-time high, with 5,462 people directly employed on site.
