The Motor Industry Code of Practice for New Cars is an OFT approved consumer code of practice developed to ensure subscribed vehicle manufacturers (subscribers) maintain the highest levels of service to their customers. The Code has been approved by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) under its Consumer Codes Approval Scheme (CCAS) since 2004 and is an industry-wide, self-regulating Code of Practice covering 99% of all new cars sold in the UK each year.
The Code contains promises by manufacturers regarding new cars, new car manufacturer warranties and spare parts availability. It also provides useful information and guidance including how to deal with any complaints and details of how the code’s Conciliation and Advisory Service works.
