What is Odette?

ODETTE is the Organisation for Data Exchange by Tele-Transmission in Europe, however since being established in 1984, the remit has expanded. Odette aims to drive out costs and improve efficiency throughout the supply chain. It is a pan-European organisation that involves vehicle manufacturers, suppliers and service providers working together to develop and help deploy standard practices and related EDI data formats in logistics, material flow and financial transactions. By standardising and rationalising these functions all parties have achieved major cost benefits. By reaching across international borders, it offers benefits to companies that operate internationally as well as those whose business is domestic.

Odette operates through national trade organisations in each participating country. In the UK, SMMT coordinates Odette work involving UK-based representatives of vehicle manufacturers and suppliers who collaborate to influence European initiatives and address the needs of the UK.
