SMMT is providing round the clock access to professional legal advice free to its members.
As the complexities of our legal system have increased, so the cost of obtaining the necessary expert advice to bring about speedy and satisfactory solutions to worrying problems has risen beyond the budget of many businesses. It is for this reason that SMMT have chosen to provide their members with professionally qualified advice at any time of the day or night.
How the service works
This is a 24 hour telephone advisory service on all legal and related problems. The legal helpline card, which when requested is sent to our members, gives you access to a team of legal experts any time of the day or night.
This card enables you to obtain confidential expert advice on your problems, together with guidance on the steps you should take to protect your rights whenever you need it. The advice given in most cases is immediate, and is geared to providing you with easily understood practical help. Where a problem has a simple solution which you can satisfactorily resolve yourself, the adviser will outline the appropriate step-by-step action you should take.
Comprehensive advice on all areas of business law is available including employment disputes, disputes with customers and suppliers, defence of prosecutions, landlord/tenant disputes etc. It is often seemingly trivial problems which cause the most anxiety and it is for this reason that advice is available on the simplest through to the most complex of matters.

The service is totally confidential. The only information that needs to be given is your code number printed on each card. There is no limit to the number of times you can use the service.
Remember, because the service operates 24 hours a day, you can obtain advice at the most convenient time and from the privacy of your own home or place of business.
