Background
European legislation being phased in through to 2014 means that all new vehicle models are subject to up to up 50 new approval criteria. In response to the additional challenge, SMMT developed a tool to make the process quicker, easier and cheaper, SENTA – the SMMT European and National Type Approval guide. This intelligent web-based programme guides manufacturers from their original design idea through development and construction stages to a quicker completion of the approval process.

The Webinar
The session included advice on the very latest type approval issues and worked examples of typical type approvals. Colin Wilde then answered a number of questions from participants about the processes and challenges of type approving vehicles. SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt chaired the session.
