Automotive Components Committee

The UK automotive components industry is a key contributor to the UK economy and vital to the success of UK and worldwide vehicle production. Providing the Automotive Components Section with effective representation is therefore a central part of the work of the SMMT.

The committee which aims to be fully representative of the industry with members from top, first-tier multi-national companies through to SMEs meets on a quarterly basis to air issues of common interest and provide the necessary input to SMMT on future direction and focus to ensure that we constantly and consistently meet the needs of the Automotive Components Section members. Membership of the committee is open to UK automotive components manufacturing interests, who are also members of the SMMT.

The committee’s objectives are to;

• look at ways of improving and enhancing the automotive components industry in UK
• influence the focus of SMMT effort by identifying relevant, current and future issues
• encourage discussion and assist SMMT to represent the industry’s best interests to both government and vehicle manufacturers
