e-Business Committee

SMMT has formed a Committee to promote the use of B2B e-Business in the UK automotive industry. Its mission is;

To promote the successful use of B2B e-Business processes and tools in the UK automotive industry and foster collaboration for mutual benefit between members of the industry.

The e-Business committee’s main aims are:

• Represent the views and needs of the supply base to manufacturers, service providers, and government
• Promote and facilitate e-Business deployment; identify priorities and champion initiatives
• Propose and review SMMT e-Business program activities and events
• Co-ordinate representation of the UK industry in international e-Business groups

The committee will review needs and promote actions to assist all aspects of e-Business deployment including business process reengineering, application software and network services, EDI message standards, and ITC technical standards. All B2B business areas include engineering, procurement, logistics, and billing. The Committee coordinates UK representation in the Odette and ENX programs.

The committee meets quarterly. Membership is open to all member companies of the SMMT. Non-members may be co-opted onto the committee if required to assist particular work.

To pursue actions in progress, maximum use will be made of e-business collaborative tools including e-mail, and the SMMT website.
