Terms of Reference

This group’s original terms of reference were to consider and advise on economic and related matters referred by the Executive and elsewhere in SMMT and to assist in managing the work of the unit. At present the committee’s work has ceased.

No member representatives are now attached to the group and the committee does not have a chairman; it last met in April 2000.

If the need arises the group will be reconstituted where action is required on strategic issues of economic and business policies that cannot be resolved at other SMMT groups.

Some of the former aspects of this committee continue in the participation of market analysts, business planners and tax specialist in interest groups like the Tax Panel and exchange of forecasting views through the car and cv forecasting panels.
