Education and Development Committee

The Education and Development Committee meet to discuss and formulate broad industry positions, recommendations and strategies on learning and skills development in the automotive industry. It addresses issues relating to translating skills training into practical competence; champions the establishment of accredited industry training standards; lobbies government on education and training matters and supports initiatives to promote careers in the industry to attract and retain high calibre recruits.

The Education and Development Committee meet quarterly and a chairman is elected by open ballot by its members every two years.

It is open to representatives from all SMMT member companies involved in education and development issues, representatives from relevant national training and skills organisations, and to representatives from SMMT Industry Forum involved in education and development issues.
