Noise Working Group

The Noise Working Group tracks, debates and seeks to provide industry input as appropriate, in the following key areas:-

The activities of the UN-ECE GRB group, where the revisions of regulation 51 are being undertaken. Encompassing the new test procedure and off cycle emissions provisions (e.g. defeat devices).
Experiences with test procedure new and old and other methods of vehicle noise testing.
UK industry input to the OICA regarding the revised regulations at the GEB meetings
The Noise Working Group reports to and is annually reviewed by the Environmental Policy Committee. SMMT members may apply to join the group.

A ‘one page’ synopsis of meetings is published in the monthly Technical Bulletin which is available to all SMMT members on this site.

Group correspondence however is only available to members in the restricted area of the site or as distributed by the Working Group secretary.
