Quality Panel

The Quality Panel exists to support the UK automotive industry in its drive for world-class quality and performance. Key objectives include national and international development and promotion of actions, designed to assist the UK automotive industry in the alignment of business performance with customer need.

In particular the panel:

• acts as a forum for the industry and includes among its membership; senior representatives of the major vehicle and component manufacturers,
• organises sub-groups to address specific issues identified by the Panel,
• makes recommendations on actions relevant to the industry, subject to ratification by the Executive Committee,
• encourages involvement and seeks to strengthen links with, other industry-related, national and international bodies,
• works closely with other, relevant SMMT committees.

Membership of the Panel is open to vehicle and component manufacturers who are members of SMMT. The Quality Panel is administered by the Quality Improvement Department and the Panel meets approximately four times a year with additional meetings held as agreed by members. The Panel chairman is elected biannually by members.
