Tax Panel

The Taxation Panel currently operates as an e-exchange to discuss strategic and operational tax issues facing businesses and the automotive sector.

Members use the forum to raise and discuss tax issues and initiatives and to share their specialist experience. Government also uses the forum to communicate with industry and to better understand the impact of taxation on the sector. Joint industry action is developed on a range of tax issues and officials are lobbied with a view to influencing the tax authorities to change and ease compliance and the other tax burdens borne by the industry.

Membership is open to full, paid-up SMMT member representatives working in the tax, accountancy and finance areas of their business.

The Economics Team of the Public Policy and Vehicle Legislation Department compiles background papers and working documents to support Panel meetings. Members also contribute working papers as do government departments.
