Vehicle Warranty Products Committee

The Vehicle Warranty Products Committee meets to discuss views on:

• issues surrounding the industry
• to address issues relating to the Motor Industry Code of Practice for Vehicle Warranty Products and the many aspects of maintaining standards of customer service
• to provide a forum for the discussion and formulation of broad industry knowledge, best working practice and development within the industry.

SMMT members who sit on the Vehicle Warranty Products Committee see it as a vital tool enabling them to bring items to the attention of the industry as a whole. This assists companies in providing a continued level of service to their customers.

The Committee meets on a quarterly basis and is open to representatives from all member companies involved in this sector. However, working groups are often set up to meet outside of the normal Committee timetable to address specific issues that may arise.

The Motor Industry Code of Practice for Vehicle Warranty Products has been in operation since 2009. Members administering vehicle warranty products, are expected to accept and observe the Code in its entirety.

A copy of the Code of Practice can be obtained by members of the public on request. Minutes are distributed to committee members and available to other SMMT members at the chairman”s discretion. Members can view correspondence in the restricted area of this site.
