SMMT hosted its second 2009 open forum on 2 June at Forbes House in London.
Chief executive Paul Everitt opened the session with an overview of the New Automotive
Innovation and Growth Team (NAIGT) report.
The presentation led to a panel discussion
and an in-depth look into what the NAIGT’s recommendations mean for the industry’s future.
Ian Henry, director of AutoAnalysis, presented car manufacturers’ general outlook on
the current economic climate.
A second panel discussion focussed on the expectations
of component suppliers going forward.
To conclude the conference, attendees were
invited to a question and answer session on the Automotive Assistance Programme,
attended by a representative from the Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory
Reform (BERR).
