Cars:
‘Sometimes it’s useful to remind ourselves that Britain’s car industry is not just about a rich heritage; it has a bright future too’, commented Christopher Macgowan, SMMT chief executive. ‘We only need to look at the British-built models being launched at the motor show in London’s Docklands to see this is true. Car makers like Lotus, with a fabulous new entry level Elise S sports car, show that it is not all doom and gloom in the UK car industry. There is still plenty to shout about and we will do it from London this week.’
Commercial Vehicles:
‘For commercial vehicle production export markets continue to sustain high levels,’ commented Christopher Macgowan, SMMT chief executive. ‘Output for the home market has taken a bit of a knock recently following the rush to beat the digitach deadline in May. But a slower June may well also have something to do with plants preparing for the introduction of new models, like the new Ford Transit in Southampton.’
This month’s plant focus is Lotus cars. Click to download
