Purpose of the Post:
Go Ultra Low is a multi-channel consumer communications campaign, jointly funded by Government and five leading volume vehicle manufacturers, launched in January 2014 with the aim of taking ultra low emission vehicles from novel to normal. SMMT is looking for a senior project manager to provide the SMMT lead on the effective day-to-day management of the remaining campaign throughout 2014 whilst building a strong business case to encourage further investment in 2015.
Qualifications/Skills/Attributes required:
Project management
- Experience in delivering projects on time and on budget
- Ability to manage and co-ordinate teams in a multi-stakeholder environment
- ‘Hands on’ approach in personally undertaking key project activities (e.g. monthly reporting on project results)
Stakeholder management & communication
- Ability to manage a multi-stakeholder consortium which includes campaign investors and Government
- Experience of managing multiple agencies across web, creative, PR and research to deliver effective campaigns
- Ability to effectively communicate and present campaign to other potential partners to increase engagement across the wider automotive and environmental community.
PR agencies
- Experience of effective management of PR agencies to deliver ‘high value for budget’ projects
- Previous experience of multi-stakeholder projects or government PR projects would be an advantage
- Ability to write/review articles, generate content ideas and liaise with media where required
Campaign strategy
- Experience in developing communications strategies and preparing of business cases for future campaign investment
- Ability to interpret campaign research, conduct PESTEL, build campaign themes in line with target audience needs, assess likely costs and compose budget with value impact statements
Website
- Ability to manage/maintain existing campaign website, including managing updates, writing copy and maintaining/building content and detail
- Ability to review website to propose future developments
Budget control
- Confident and experienced in financial management
- Ability to manage fixed campaign budget and control agency spend, liaising with agencies, OLEV and SMMT Accounts department
Main duties include:
- Deliver effective SMMT project management of remaining Go Ultra Low campaign in 2014
- Manage multi-stakeholder consortium (Department for Transport – Office of Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV), vehicle manufacturers, SMMT) and liaison with PR and media agencies
- Provide secretariat function for Go Ultra Low consortium (meetings, minutes, follow up)
- Deliver SMMT financial administration of 2014 campaign to budget and plan
- Develop strategic business case for 2015 campaign investment
- Effectively work across teams (internal/external) and communicate across all stakeholders
