Renault Trucks is launching a range of vehicles aimed at urban environments at the Freight in the City Expo, held at Alexandra Palace on the 7th November.

Star of the stand will be the new C320 8×4 Tridem 2.3m cab variant, which aims to deliver eight-wheeler load capacity with the manoeuvrability of a six-wheeled vehicle. The factory-fitted extra axle adaption gives a narrower turning circle and reduces the gap to the kerb when turning left to boost safety for cyclists, while the vision window and shorter front overhang increases agility and visibility.

Also on stand will be the Range D18 Wide 4×2 R Low 250 E6, designed for multiple collection cycle applications. As well as a low two-step access height of 375mm the Range D is fitted with a vision window in the nearside door and full CLOCS safety system with cycle sensors, and the Roadcrew 4 camera system with recorder for the highest levels of safety in urban environments.

“Acknowledging the role that direct vision can play in improving safety for vulnerable road users, we are working closely with our customers to develop vehicles that lead the way in reducing operational road risk and increasing productivity,” says Nigel Butler, Commercial Director at Renault Trucks. “Our urban concept C2.3 tridem would be suited to a number of construction, logistics, distribution and refuse applications. The combination of the low cab with the tridem rear axle lends itself to use as a walking floor tipper, a concrete mixer or a rigid distribution model where the urban concept’s weight advantages and manoeuvrability will be of particular benefit to operators working in constrained urban environments.”

Renault Trucks is also showing two additions to its pre-bodied LCV ‘Ready for Business’ range. The Master 3T5 Welfare Van L3H2 can carry seven operatives and PPE within the 3,500kg limit, including a fully-equipped kitchenette, toilet and storage. Sufficiently robust for construction and utilities duties with the option of FWD, RWD and now 4×4, all versions come with a Euro5 145PS engine and six-speed gearbox. The Master Optilogistics is purpose-built for the parcel and logistics sector, in 3,500kg or 4,500kg forms and designed for maximum efficiency and safety with minimal running and repair costs.
