A fuel and driver management system from TomTom Telematics and BP has helped to reduce the fuel costs of logistics specialists Corporate Solutions by more than eight percent.

The Birmingham-based company, which provides temperature-controlled and ambient distribution services, introduced the BP FleetMove Pro solution to its fleet of more than 100 HGVs in June 2017.

The system combines data collected through BP fuel cards with vehicle location, fuel consumption, driver behaviour and also vehicle maintenance data from TomTom Telematics’ fleet management solution WEBFLEET, providing the company with fuel card exception reports and avoiding the need for manual checking of receipts.

Another aspect to the system is WEBFLEET’s OptiDrive 360, which provides real-time feedback and advice to the drivers directly into the cab to improve fuel efficiency, promoting smooth acceleration, controlled braking and eliminating idling whenever possible. The result has been an improvement of 9.2 percent in fuel consumption across the fleet. The system can even report faults in vehicle dashcams and will soon be able to automatically direct drivers to the most convenient BP stations on their routes to ensure the best value for money.

‘We’re delighted with the results,’ says Stuart Payne, Commercial Director at Corporate Solutions. ‘Combining different streams of data in this way makes everyone’s life easier, helping us to save time and reduce operating costs.’
