Biomethane conference to focus on freight

Experts in biomethane production are holding a high-profile seminar to discuss the opportunities that the freight and public transport sectors offer to the naturally produced fuel.

Taking place at the Anaerobic Digestion and World Biogas Expo at the NEC, Birmingham, from July 11 to 12, industry leaders will discuss global efforts to broaden biomethane vehicle use in business and how to stimulate the biomethane-for-transport market in the UK.

Other discussions will focus on the UK infrastructure, ways of growing anaerobic digestion, refuelling and case studies around the uptake of biomethane buses.

Anaerobic digestion produces biomethane that can be used as low-cost, low-carbon transport fuel for passenger and large vehicles such as buses, lorries and farm vehicles.

Some countries are already generating enough biomethane from anaerobic digestion to run 80% of their bus fleets.

“The transport sector and especially the heavy goods segment has been particularly challenging to decarbonise,” said Brad Douville, President of show partner Greenlane Biogas. “But things are about to change this year with the release from three major European manufacturers of heavy duty trucks with engines fully compatible with 100% biomethane.”

The show is free to attend and you can register here.
