Ketra Logistics has updated its fleet for Direct Vision Standard (DVS) compliance, with 14 new DAF rigids supplied on contract hire terms by Ryder.

Two 7.5-tonne LF150s equipped with all-day cabs have joined the fleet along with five 12-tonne LF180s and seven 18-tonne LF220s. The DVS specification includes nearside sensors and audible warning system, plus camera system. The LF220s also feature a passenger-side lower window to improve visibility.

The trucks will service the Thamesmead company and sister company IEFS Logistics, based in Barking, both Palletways members.

Of the fleet update, Martyn Young, Ketra Logistics owner, said, “We needed to make the commitment to vulnerable road users in London; we wanted our trucks to be as safe as possible – and our old fleet would not have been DVS-compliant. This new fleet not only means that we’re compliant now, but also when the standard becomes tougher in 2024 and sets the minimum requirement at three stars – this means we won’t need to worry about retrofitting vehicles or replacing them in three years’ time.”

The new vehicles will service the SE and DA postcodes through Ketra Logistics and IG and E areas under the IEFS Logistics banner.
