Hydrogen Vehicle Systems (HVS) has entered into a strategic collaboration with Farrall’s Group to explore the integration of Hydrogen Fuel Cell HGVs into the haulier’s fleet.
The third-generation family transportation company, based near Chester, has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Hydrogen Fuel Cell truck OEM to commit to zero emission commercial vehicle trials.
This MOA outlines the partnership’s objective to provide the Farrall’s Group with HVS hydrogen fuel cell HGVs when these zero-emission vehicles become available for trial in late 2025.
The sharing of vehicle data, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) modelling, route planning, infrastructure support and performance optimisation are some of the aspects of the MOA partnership.
Farrall’s Group has a fleet of 70 vehicles and 100 trailers, three warehouses situated across the North West, a vehicle workshop, as well as a dedicated team of more than 120 employees.
Matthew Farrall, Managing Director at Farrall’s Group, said the company has a focus on delivering a sustainable road map of carbon emission reduction and management.
He added: “Our partnership with HVS allows us to explore the benefits of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and helps us to deliver a greener running fleet to improve our impact on local communities.”
John McLeister, Chief Commercial Officer for HVS said: “Our close cooperation with the hydrogen supply chain will ensure that our vehicles offer a highly competitive TCO by supporting with the most appropriate hydrogen infrastructure for the organisation, and providing a zero-emission fuel cell vehicle that offers heavier payloads, longer range, and faster refuelling compared to battery electric alternatives.”
