Hydrogen Vehicle Systems (HVS) has signed a deal to deliver 30 of its hydrogen fuel cell electric tractor units to Explore Plant & Transport Solutions.
The trucks will be supported by a service and maintenance plan, full training on the safe use of hydrogen and refuelling, along with hydrogen refuelling infrastructure that fully meets Explore’s operational needs.
Worksop-based Explore, founded in 2015, is a supplier of transport and plant hire services to a wide range of industry sectors including aerospace, construction, rail and nuclear.
As the UK’s first hydrogen fuel cell truck manufacturer, HVS says its fuel cell electric vehicle delivers superior efficiency and environmental performance by offering heavier payloads, longer range and faster refuelling compared with zero emission alternatives.
Chris Gatheridge, Operations Director for Explore, said: “It is our firm belief that hydrogen-electric fuel cell vehicles are set to revolutionise the long-haul and meet the heavy demands of the construction logistics sector, providing a clean alternative to traditional diesel engines.
“These new HVS units will significantly reduce Explore’s carbon footprint, and this Agreement underscores our commitment to advancing green technology within our business.”
John McLeister, Chief Commercial Officer for HVS, said: “Our innovative, zero emission fuel cell technology provides fleet operators with the heavier payloads, longer range and faster refuelling required of modern logistics operations seeking to decarbonise their fleets.
“We are looking forward to working with Chris and his team as we both aim to lead the logistics industry in sustainability.”
