Tell us a bit about the history and background of Gewiss?
Noticing a very real need within the market, back in 1970 Gewiss was born from a revolutionary product idea: using technopolymer in electrical plant engineering.
Since then, the business has continued to grow – in fact, we now boast over 2000 employees in 28 worldwide locations, and have significantly expanded our service and product offering to cater for the entire electrical sector. But what’s remained constant is our overarching passion and commitment to providing leading-edge solutions, combined with decades of skill, expertise, and knowledge.
This remains integral today in our quest to offer increasingly sustainable products – to protect our planet and our future. We’re proud to be at the forefront of the EV evolution, working with transport companies industry-wide to help them alleviate pain, accelerate processes, and successfully navigate this journey.
Our OCPP-compliant JOINON solution for charging all electric vehicles combines the technological infrastructure of the product and its complete management, including technical support and maintenance.
What EV infrastructure can Gewiss UK provide bus companies?
As leaders in the distribution of electrical supplies, we’re on a mission to support fleet managers ahead of time to ensure compliance with upcoming legislation set to govern this arena from 2035, enhance personal decarbonisation goals, and improve local air quality.
We understand that the key to a successful EV transition is solid and strong equipment, which is why we’re thrilled to introduce our OCPP-compliant JOINON e-mobility range. It provides a safe, reliable, and robust EV system for both bus and truck companies nationwide.
Are there any other services Gewiss UK provides for the bus and commercial vehicle sectors?
Understanding that this is an ever-evolving landscape, our expert team is always on-hand to assist with the entire infrastructure process: from the very beginning and for the whole lifecycle of the equipment.
Our tried-and-tested JOINON range is the EV solution for the entire fleet as it combines reliable technology and robust equipment with our holistic management promise. Through our fully-turnkey service level agreement, we support the public transport sector every step of the way – from funding and financial assistance, to installation and implementation, and continuing with ongoing maintenance and management.
What are the benefits of SMMT membership for Gewiss?
As the voice of the UK motor industry, we value the importance of SMMT in advocating for our – and our customers’ – best interests.
While we’re incredibly excited about the future of EV, we know that many do still have anxieties and concerns about supply chain accessibility, grid restrictions, and poor infrastructure – which is estimated to require up to £7 billion per year by 2035 to meet low carbon technology energy demand.
The relationships with government and regulatory authorities that SMMT build, maintain and nurture are integral in making change happen and to advance the sector to ensure a positive and successful EV future for us all.
