Meet the Buyer

SMMT runs a number of Meet the Buyer style events, each aimed at helping buyers meet suppliers that fit their particular needs at any point during their purchasing cycle.

The events are regularly used by organisations of all shapes and sizes to find new suppliers, connect with old ones or to lay the foundations for future partnerships.

SMMT has a strong track record of delivering value through these events to both buyers and suppliers, with events always being oversubscribed.

19 October 2021, Coventry

SMMT’s Meet the Buyer event will be returning for its second edition this year, building on the success of the May event.

The event will match automotive buyers with suppliers to develop meaningful business connections during this key period of recovery and transition.

The event will be hosted physically at the Coventry Building Society Arena (formerly Ricoh Arena) on 19 October 2021 (09:00-17:00) – Arena Retail Park, Classic Dr, Coventry, United Kingdom, CV6 6AS.

Please note: SMMT is planning to deliver this event as a physical in-person event. SMMT will follow government guidelines on physical event hosting and will have a digital only contingency in place.

Format on the day

Alongside the 1-1 buyer supplier meetings, the event will also include:

  • A plenary session
  • Exhibitions
  • Facilitated networking
  • Seminars and workshops

Key areas of interest

SMMT will aim to recruit as many automotive buyers and suppliers to the event, to deliver as much value as possible to the sector. Buyers across ALL commodity areas of interest will be targeted, including those responsible for components and capabilities in the following areas:

  • Batteries and energy storage
  • Power electronics
  • Motors and electric machines
  • Infotainment and connectivity
  • Sensors and autonomy

What you need to do

Step 1 – Expression Of Interest (EOI)

Click through to the Auto Supplier Finder (ASF) database to register your interest as a buyer or a supplier in SMMT Meet the Buyer October 2021.

You have until 21st September to complete this step.

Step 2 – Event registration

Once you have expressed your interest (EOI’d) as per step 1, you will receive an event registration link which you will also need to complete this finalise your application. There is an event fee of £250 + VAT per delegate. This fee is covered for SMMT members.

2) If a non-member company is unsuccessful in securing meetings, the event fee will be refunded after the event.

Step 3 – Update your ASF company information

Please ensure your ASF company profile is up-to-date and as accurate as possible. This information will be used by the buyers to choose who to meet so ensure your Meet the Buyer profile stands out.
