7-9 May 2025
Bangkok, Thailand
SMMT will organise our third UK pavilion at Future Mobility Asia, a comprehensive showcase of smart transportation, transport and transport infrastructure supply chain, clean mobility concepts, solutions, technologies and innovations.
The exhibition and summit is the central meeting point for vehicle and battery OEMs, mobility innovators, government policymakers and technology solution providers from Thailand and South East Asia.
The 2024 edition attracted over 18,000 attendees from 75 countries with the UK Pavilion exhibitors this year rating their experience of the event as 5/5.
Future Mobility Asia runs concurrently with Future Energy Asia.
About the Thai automotive sector
Thailand, dubbed “the Detroit of Asia”, is the largest vehicle producer and second largest car market in South East Asia, producing over 1.8 million cars and commercial vehicles in 2023.
The country stands at the forefront of the ASEAN EV market and has an ambitious target to become an EV production hub by 2030. As of September 2024, four-wheel battery electric vehicles make up 13% of the market share, driven by the wider availability of models and supportive government initiatives such as the EV 3.5 program, which offers subsides and tax incentives to encourage both consumers and manufacturers to transition to BEVs. Continued growth is predicted for electric two-wheelers, trucks and cars.
UK trade pact with Thailand
In September 2024, the UK and Thailand entered into an Enhanced Trade Partnership designed to boost trade and investment with Thailand. This pact will help create opportunities for UK businesses in the country, which is the second-largest economy in Southeast Asia. Source.

2024 UK pavilion exhibitors
2024 event report
SMMT, with the support of the British Embassy Bangkok and APC, organised the UK Pavilion at Future Mobility Asia for the second year following a successful first visit in 2023.
Eight companies joined the Pavilion showcasing some of the advanced capabilities and technologies that UK companies have to offer in the mobility and electrification sectors.
The week commenced with a networking reception held the evening prior to the opening of the show, giving our UK exhibitors a chance to connect and network with guests from Thai organisations such as the Thailand Board of Investment, Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand and The Federation of Thai Industries as well as high-level contacts from a variety of key Thai automotive manufactures.
Exhibitors also had an opportunity to present a country spotlight focusing on Innovations from the UK during the Future Mobility Asia conference that was running concurrently with the exhibition. This one hour presentation gave each exhibitor a platform to raise their companies profile and highlight their products and applications to conference attendees.
Initial feedback suggests exhibitors had a successful and productive show and would be keen to repeat this event again next year. If you’d like to hear more about this visit to Thailand or express interest to join the UK Pavilion at Future Mobility Asia 2025, please email international@smmt.co.uk.
