Automotive heating, ventilation and air conditioning specialist, Denso UK, will be creating more than 140 jobs at its Telford facility and joining six local companies in creating 100 apprenticeship vacancies.
Following an investment of £10 million and a wealth of new projects with UK-based manufacturers such as BMW, Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan and Toyota, Denso UK will employ a further 140 engineering and manufacturing specialists over the next twelve months.
At an event attended by Minister of Skills, Matthew Hancock, Denso also announced that it will join the Telford Manufacturing Partnership (TMP), of which it is the lead employer, to create 100 new apprenticeship places under the £1million Employer Ownership Skills scheme. It will also help TMP fill 54 current apprenticeship vacancies and develop a programme of up-skilling courses for existing staff.
Skills Minister, Matthew Hancock MP said, “DENSO’s facilities are exactly the kind of place where the modern workforce needs to be trained. Using top of the range techniques and equipment will provide a skills base fit to compete in the global race. The government investment of £1 million, matched by DENSO provides a model for how industry can develop training that responds to industrial need.”
Mark Hayward, Managing Director of DENSO UK, commented, “We are proud to be the lead employer for the TMP and it was fantastic to be able to showcase to Mr Hancock the benefits the Employer Ownership of Skills scheme is bringing, whilst sharing with him the plans for future growth and investment at DENSO UK, which will rely on the skills and development of the next generation of young talent in our community and region.”
