The 2014 Auto Express Driver Power survey has revealed car owners in the UK are happier with their cars than ever before.
In a poll that questioned more than 50,000 motorists on aspects of their car including reliability, running costs, performance and practicality, respondents gave their cars an average satisfaction rating of 88.4%. This is the highest satisfaction rating in the history of the survey, marking a seven percentage point increase from the first results in 2002.
Auto Express Editor-in-chief, Steve Fowler, said, “The UK car market is booming at the moment with over two years of consecutive growth and new car registrations up 3.0%, and it is no surprise given the Driver Power results. Britons are happier than ever with their cars, scoring their vehicles much more highly than in previous years.”
The highest ranking car overall was the Skoda Yeti, with the manufacturer’s Citigo supermini and Superb executive saloon taking second and third place respectively.
The Longbridge-built MG6 was the best performing UK manufactured car, also taking top spot for road handling. A number of Jaguar Land Rover models as well as the Sunderland-built Nissan Qashqai also featured towards the front of the pack.
